Julia Josephine Slone, and phenomenal NY jazz pianist Bill Pernice, bring you rich, irresistible indie pop, American roots, and soul, featuring Jon Weeks on sax and flute, the finest flavors of your favorite genres, and a delectable vocal cherry on top.
The ensemble goes into the studio to begin work on Slone's upcoming record on Memorial Day, and the evening will feature Slone's new songs for the session.
Bill Pernice has been playing piano for over 40 years. His profound musical sensitivity and enormous chops have found Pernice on stage with such greats as Jon Hendrix and Willie Nelson. Bill's solo record of original jazz, Doorways To The Heart, showcases the artist's brilliance as a composer, his explosively rhythmic performance style, and his infinite capacity for creating beauty. A native of New York, Bill tours nationally with The Heaven On Earth Ensemble, performs locally with the Westchester Swing Band, and plays throughout the northeast in a diversity of settings and ensembles.
"Trading in an intriguing blend of soul, funk and American roots balanced by a delicate pop sensibility, southern-Vermont-based songwriter Julia Josephine Slone is staking her claim to be among the state's top young female stars." - Dan Bolles of Vermont's Seven Days
Julia's 2010 release, The Baby And The Bath Water, was described by Jon Potter of the Brattleboro Reformer as, "irrepressibly rich...with...shiny sound and abundant spirit, warmth and wisdom... and a persistent wash of lush harmony vocals... "
