When two prosperous couples meet following a playground scuffle between their children, their initial cordiality descends into mutual recriminations, resulting in a series of comic situations as the get-together quickly spins out of control.

God of Carnage, written by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton, directed by Catherine Doherty, runs live on stage at the Briggs Opera House in White River Junction, VT, from October 30-November 17, 2013. For tickets and information, call 802-296-7000 or visit www.northernstage.org. Tickets start at $20.

This winner of three Tony Awards, including Best Play, was first produced in 2007 and played for 476 performances on Broadway, making it the third-longest-running play of the 2000s. The cast includes Broadway actors Gregory Jones and Kathryn Markey and regional powerhouses Joe Gately and Lena Kaminsky. Markey has appeared in several Northern Stage productions, including Boeing-Boeing, Parallel Lives, and Dancing At Lughnasa, and Kaminsky portrayed the young nun in Doubt and enjoyed a comedic turn in The Shrew Tamer.

Performances are Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 5:00 p.m., with Thursday 2:00 p.m. matinees on November 7 and 14. The show is sponsored by Mascoma Savings Bank and Designer Gold.
