Director and actor, John Gould Rubin is the director of the recently extended Broadway hit, Turn Me Loose, the story of comedic genius Dick Gregory, starring Joe Morton and produced by musician John Legend. Director, writer, and translator Royston Coppenger's work has been produced across the United States and abroad. His acclaimed translations of Ibsen's Hedda Gabler, Chekhov's The Seagull, and his adaptation of Strindberg's Playing with Fire were all directed by John Gould Rubin in New York City.
Unique in his approach to the development of a play, Rubin, and the entire cast and creative crew ?Coppenger, the actors, Audrey Ross, Luke Forbes, Sammi Katz, Sarah Wharton, Stephen Dexter, and Vayu O'Donnell; Production Designer, Liz Toonkel, and Composer Ryan Rummery? will all be in Dorset ahead of the July 11 reading for an immersive and multi-media exploration of the script. Reached in New York City, Rubin commented on the play, "A Doll's House is a play about perverse behavior by an unbalanced couple compensating for their own moral corruption. Their actions privately and publicly are lurid, exhibitionistic and embrace deliberate sexually titillation." Groundbreaking at the time of its publication A Doll's House remains relevant and provocative for contemporary audiences.
