Dorset Theatre Festival is celebrating the Festival's 41st season with the 2018 Summer Stars Celebration Gala honoring Trustee Rick Jackson. The Gala will take place at 6:00 P.M. on July 8th at the Old Gray Barn (1582 VT Route 30, Rupert, VT 05768) and will feature music by the Roadside Blues Band, a special guest performance by international concert and recording artist Maxine Linehan, and a live auction.
"Our board is proud to honor one of its own. Rick's commitment, generosity and intellect are the reasons we are all still here. Now we get to celebrate him and support our beloved Festival at the same time," said Dorset Theatre Festival Board Member and Chair of the Gala Committee, Mary Ann Van Degna.
Theatre lovers are invited to join Dorset Theatre Festival stars past and present at this celebration of theatre in Southern Vermont. Special guests will include Academy Award-winner Estelle Parsons (Bonnie & Clyde), playwright Theresa Rebeck (Dorset's 2017 hit starring Tyne and Tim Daly, Downstairs), two-time Tony Award-winner Judd Hirsch ("Taxi"), and acclaimed concert and recording artist Maxine Linehan, who will also perform at the event.
Admission to the 2018 Summer Stars Celebration Gala includes a cocktail hour, seated dinner by Hub's Catering Company, and Nuns of New Skete cheesecake for dessert. Maxine Linehan will entertain in a special performance, and local favorites, the Roadside Blues Band, will perform throughout the evening.
"We hope our new audience members will become theatre lovers after this season. We're excited for them to join our treasured subscriber base and the vibrant community of artists we bring to Dorset Theatre Festival each summer to create this magic we call theatre," said Deborah Riemer, Vice President of the Festival's Board of Trustees. She added, "That's really what we're celebrating at this gala: the future of theatre."
In conjunction with the Summer Stars Celebration Gala, Dorset Theatre Festival is also hosting an online auction, which is now open. Once-in-a-lifetime experiences on the virtual auction block include a backstage tour of Waitress on Broadway and a private flight piloted by Treat Williams.
