Dorset Theatre Festival Announces CRY IT OUT; I'M NOT RAPPAPORT Postponed To 2019 ImageDorset Theatre Festival, under the leadership of Artistic Director Dina Janis, Producing Director Will Rucker, and Executive Director Marissa Hutton, announced today that the 41st Season will begin with CRY IT OUT, by Molly Smith Metzler, directed by Marc Masterson. CRY IT OUT will begin performances June 21, 2018 at the Dorset Playhouse (104 Cheney Rd, Dorset, VT 05251), and will run through July 14, 2018. CRY IT OUT will occupy the slot for the previously announced production of Herb Gardner's I'm Not Rappaport starring Judd Hirsch, which has been postponed to Summer 2019 to allow Mr. Hirsch to recuperate from back surgery.

Jessie can't find any Mom Friends in her new Long Island neighborhood until she and larger-than-life Lina start sneaking out for coffee between their duplexes during nap times. When a wealthy neighbor comes down from the hill overlooking their hangout, the sleep-deprived comedy of new parenthood shows a different side of itself. CRY IT OUT is an honestly absurd look at the dilemma of returning to work after childbirth and how class impacts parenthood and friendship.

CRY IT OUT will be followed by a new production of Dominique Morisseau's SKELETON CREW. In this third play in Morisseau's Detroit trilogy, a makeshift family of workers at the last exporting auto plant in the city navigate the possibility of foreclosure. Power dynamics shift, and they are pushed to the limits of survival. When the line between blue collar and white collar gets blurred, how far over the lines are they willing to step? SKELETON CREW will run from Thursday, July 19 through Saturday, August 4.

The 2018 season will continue with PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, running Thursday, August 9-Saturday August 25. The outspoken Elizabeth Bennet faces mounting pressure from all sides to secure a suitable marriage. But is marriage suitable for a woman of Elizabeth's intelligence and independence? When she meets the standoffish, tall, vaguely handsome, mildly amusing, and impossibly aristocratic Mr. Darcy, they clash initially, but is there something deeper behind their animosity? Literature's greatest tale of manners, society and love has never felt so theatrical or spirited than it does in this effervescent adaptation of Jane Austen's classic romance from acclaimed writer and actress Kate Hamill (Bedlam's Sense and Sensibility).

The season will conclude with ANN by award-winning actress and writer Holland Taylor. ANN is an inspiring and hilarious play that brings us face to face with the complex, colorful, and captivating character bigger than the state from which she hailed. Performed by two-time Tony nominee Jayne Atkinson ("House of Cards," "Madam Secretary"), ANN takes a revealing look at the impassioned woman who enriched the lives of her followers, friends, and family. Performances begin Wednesday August 29 for a run through Saturday September 1.

Dorset Theatre Festival builds upon its growing reputation as an incubator of new work with the Pipeline Series-a cutting edge series of four presentations of works destined to become tomorrow's classics. Presentations will be held on June 26, July 10, July 31, and August 12. More information on the new works will be announced at a later date.
