Internationally known pianist Diana Fanning and her husband, Middlebury College music professor Emory Fanning, were directors of a music camp on Lake Dunmore for ten years. Created to serve talented teenagers on their way to a career in music, Point Counterpoint became an important training ground for hundreds of professional musicians.
The Fannings sold the camp in 1989, but a musical reunion takes place this summer as Diana Fanning joins the Point Counterpoint faculty for a free concert on Wednesday, July 27, at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater.
The Constance Holden Memorial Concert has become an annual event at Town Hall Theater. It was created in memory of long-time West Salisbury summer resident, Constance "Tancy" Holden, who died in a bicycling accident in Washington, D.C. Holden, an accomplished artist, loved the Point CounterPoint concerts, and her family is underwriting this concert as a way of celebrating her life in Vermont.
The concert will feature the Beethoven String Quartet, op. 95 in F minor, "Serioso." After an intermission, Fanning will join the group for Brahms piano trio in C Major, op. 87.
This evening of exquisite chamber music is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27, at 7:30 pm. The concert is free.
