Think of the rollicking bluegrass of "O Brother Where Art Thou" mixed with smokin' electric blues and a dose of 70's supergroup The Band, and you get an idea of Bow Thayer and Perfect Trainwreck, a group whose fame is just beginning to spread beyond the borders of New England..
"A sublimely gifted artist," says Seven Days. "An intricate and layered sound sets Bow apart," says the Seattle Intelligencer. "Awesome," says Farm Fresh Radio.
Bow Thayer and Perfect Trainwreck will play Middlebury's Town Hall Theater on Saturday, March 5.
The group hails from the Mad River Valley, and has played in venues all over Vermont and New England, but this is its first gig in Middlebury. "This is one of those rare times when a lot of local music lovers simply insisted that we book a group," says THT executive director Douglas Anderson. "Bow's fans love him."
The opening act will be Split Tongue Crow, a popular roots folk/country group from the Rutland area.
Thayer has made the rounds in his 20-year career, playing with such greats as Levon Helm, Booker T. Jones and the alt-country string band The Benders. He's a master on the electric banjo.
Bow Thayer and Perfect Trainwreck will play Middlebury's Town Hall Theater on Saturday, March 5 at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $15, and can be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, Noon - 5 pm) and at the door, if available.
