Local blues singer/songwriter Scott Ainslie will be performing a special benefit concert. Sandglass Theater is working hard to raise funds to finish building our new fully accessible lobby and box office. They have already raised more than 2/3 the total cost of the renovation and hope to close the gap with one more special fundraising event. All proceeds from this concert will go towards actualizing Sandglass' vision to make their intimate theater in Putney, VT accessible to the whole community. .

The event will be begin at 7:30pm, at NextStage Arts, next door to Sandglass Theater, with a sumptuous array of complimentary desserts, coffee, and tea. The acoustic performance by Scott Ainslie will follow the dessert reception, at Sandglass Theater. Tickets are $32, and includes an opportunity to win some exciting prizes including tickets to future events at Sandglass, a platter of handmade springrolls made to order by Thai caterer, Aew Ladd; and even a puppet from the sacred Sandglass archives. There will also be a ceremonial ribbon cutting by a surprise "congressional delegation."

Scott Ainslie has generously offered his music in support of Sandglass Theater. Ainslie has played with many of the great original masters of southern blues and African and American roots music as well as old time fiddle, banjo, and diddly-bo. His vibrant traditional blues and striking original comps are not only highly acclaimed but profoundly moving and inspirational

Ainslie has received numerous awards and grants to acknowledge and support his work in documenting and presenting traditional music including support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the North Carolina Arts Council, The Independent Weekly community artist award and the 21st Annual Sam Ragan Fine Arts Award from St. Andrew's College in Laurinburg, NC.

Sandglass Theater is a not-for-profit theater in the heart of Putney, VT. The 60 seat theater, housed in an historic barn, is revered by performers and audiences alike for it's intimacy and charm. Advance ticket purchase is highly recommended. Tickets are $32 and can be bought online at www.sandglasstheater.org, or by calling the box office at (802)387-4051.
