On Tuesday August 20, Dorset Theatre Festival is excited to present the final installment of Dorset's New Play Reading Series: Rest by Samuel D. Hunter, winner of the 2013 Drama Desk Special Award for Playwriting and the Lucille Lortel award for Best New Play. Rest is directed by Davis McCallum, whose work on Hunter's play A Bright New Boise earned him a Drama Desk Nomination. Featuring a stellar cast, the play tells the story of a few residents and employees of a rest home in Idaho on the eve of the facility's closing, snowed in and facing a terrible tragedy. The resulting interactions ask questions of generational tension, mental illness, religion and the meaning of love.

"Presenting this phenomenal play is a wonderful way to end the series. A commission for the award winning South Coast Rep in California," says Artistic Director Dina Janis.

The New Play Series reading of Rest by Samuel D. Hunter is on Tuesday, August 20th at 7 pm at the Dorset Playhouse, 104 Cheney Road. For tickets call the box office at (802) 867 2223 or online at dorsettheatrefestival.org.
