Valentine's Day is here and love is all around us. At this most romantic time of the year, we can't help but wonder... what is the greatest Broadway love song ever? BroadwayWorld continues our great tradition of finding that consensus- and this year we have more answers than ever! We've gathered responses from over 1500 performers, composers, industry professionals, and entertainment personalities from all over the world.

This year's list is presented by The Notebook, now in previews on Broadway. Based on the best selling novel that inspired the iconic film, this new musical follows Allie and Noah, both from different worlds, as they share a lifetime of love despite the forces that threaten to pull them apart, in a deeply moving portrait of the enduring power of love.

Wolf Hall: Parts 1 and 2
"All The Wasted Time" from Parade. I saw the show in London as the Donmar Warehouse, and it was fantastic – but this was a big, emotional number form the character just when you wanted it.

I'm going to say "Tonight" from West Side Story. Because it's so full of hope and optimism. Love helps them see the world as it can be. As wondrous.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
"All I Ask of You" from The Phantom of the Opera as it is asking if you will love me always and forever and not just a short term thing.

My favorite Broadway love song is probably "The Next Ten Minutes" from The Last Five Years!

“50 Percent" from Ballroom. I love this song because it shows that you can find love at any age and that often love comes in many forms.

An American in Paris | Pal Joey
“Maybe This Time” (Cabaret). This song always affected me, even as a child watching the Bob Fosse film. It has such longing and passion that reveal itself more and more, and it’s interesting to see the actress singing it shift back and forth as a broken character that is desperate for rescue.

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
“Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” from PAL JOEY because it’s sung by an older woman that has still 'got it.' Also “Think of Me” from PHANTOM because I am constantly saying good-bye to the ones I love.

Back to the Future
"Sue Me" from Guys and Dolls. We normally think that love songs are ballads, but "Sue Me" is anything but! It's brassy, energetic, catchy, treacle-free and funny. Even though it doesn't stand as a love song outside of the specifics of Guys and Dolls, it never fails to put a smile on my face.

On the Twentieth Century | The Country Girl | Guys and Dolls | Noises Off
I guess it would have to be our wedding song, which was also a song I sang in Guys and Dolls: "I've Never Been in Love Before." It's a story about a person who has protected himself from love. The odds weren't in love's favor, and he didn't give it much time, but when it hits you, you can't deny it. It's a song about lamenting one's powerlessness and admitting to one's hidden desires.

Swept Away | Long Day's Journey Into Night | Jerusalem | American Idiot | Spring Awakening
Well, it's more of a love triangle song, but "Lily's Eyes" from The Secret Garden. I love that song!

"What I Did For Love" from A Chorus Line is definitely our favorite to perform. It’s such a powerful and emotional anthem that perfectly encapsulates the complexities of love and sacrifice. The lyrics are raw and honest, and capture the intense feelings of longing, devotion, and heartbreak that often accompany love.

Straight | The Man Who Came to Dinner | Gypsy
Giving three, because there are far too many to choose from. And all good things come in threes. (For proof, go see Straight the play.) 1. "I Got Lost in His Arms" - Annie Get Your Gun - Just plain gorgeous and spot on. 2. "What’s the Use of Wond’rin" - Carousel - My cousin asked me to sing at her wedding and I presented her with this and she said, “Ummmm is this a love song?!” I certainly think it is! 3. "You’ll Never Get Away From Me" - Gypsy - Anyone who knows me knows I had to pick a Gypsy song. "All I Need is the Girl" is a strong runner up, but I just love Herbie and Rose’s relationship and watching and listening to Bernadette and John Dossett perform this was a lesson in how to be in love on stage. Hopefully Jake and I will be able to compete with their chemistry!

A Bronx Tale. Les Miserables | Leap of Faith
“On My Own” - Les Miserables. I know it's not a traditional "love song" but it describes such an intense longing and undying love. I guess it's sort of a stalker fantasy song, but I'm sure we've all loved someone from across the room. Right? Right?

Love Never Dies
My favorite Broadway love song is “All I Ask of You” for a lot of reasons, but I grew up with it. My parents actually had it played at their wedding reception, so it feels like a part of my life.

The Unsinkable Molly Brown | Natasha | Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812
My favorite Broadway love song is "You Matter to Me" from Waitress. Sometimes in love you don't have the exact words to tell someone you love them. That's real!

A Bronx Tale
My favorite love song is "Only You" by The Platters. I think the lyrics are so simple and beautiful. It's makes you feel like you are back in time.

Les Miserables | Beauty and the Beast
I would say "On My Own" from Les Miz. After singing it 8 times a week I can say that it is one of the most beautiful songs about unrequited love....it creates images that are so poignant and timeless!

My valentine broadway song of choice this year is appropriately "Sara Lee." Any song that talks about cheesecake and brownies and other delicious treats is so very romantic to me!

They're Playing Our Song | Cabaret | Guys and Dolls | Carnival! | Gypsy
I choose "Our Love is Here to Stay" by George and Ira Gershwin, which was the last composition George wrote; and, the words were written by Ira after George died, making it very poignant. It was in the film An American in Paris and in the Broadway show The 1940's Radio Hour. My story with this song comes from when I was doing They're Playing Our Song and I fell in love with the sound engineer, Armand. Both of us had been married before and were wary about falling in love again. We took a break, I went to Rio, and during that absence we both realized our love is here to stay!

Wicked
I’m certainly biased, but “As Long As You’re Mine” from Wicked takes the cake for me. The song has undertones of desperation and danger that imbue it with greater weight than I think is present in most love ballads. The characters know their time together is likely short, so they love each other almost fiercely. Plus, it’s Schwartz. Really, what more needs be said?!

"How Could I Ever Know?" from The Secret Garden. When I saw that number at the end of the show, I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

One that comes to mind is "Love Will Stand When All Else Fails" from Memphis. I sang it in the second act when I was in the recording studio. It's a love song for the ages.
