Metro Theatre presents There Goes the Bride February 22 – March 22, 2014
There Goes the Bride, written by comedy geniuses Ray Cooney and John Chapman, is three-quarters brilliant farce and one-quarter sweet musical. Those with a taste for romantic comedies will adore the delightful song-and-dance numbers, and farce-lovers will be in stitches as the hysterical story unfolds.
Set on the morning of his daughter's wedding, things don't go to plan for Timothy Westerby: The day starts with a bang to his head and then takes unexpected and bizarre twists with hilarious consequences.
What does a family do when the father of the bride believes he’s Fred Astaire and is hallucinating that he’s met a 1920’s flapper who is his Ginger Rogers? And what about when he and his hallucinated partner start auditioning for someone he believes is a Hollywood producer but is actually the father of the groom? How can a society wedding go on after such a mix-up? And what will the bride do amid all the chaos?
Directed by Catherine Morrison, choreographed by Vanessa Coley-Donohue, and stage managed by Anthony Stonechild, There Goes the Bride stars:
• Emma Greenhalgh as Ursula Westerby
• Leah Ringwald as Judy Westerby
• Don Glossop as Dr. Gerald Drimmond
• Diana Sandberg as Daphne Drimmond
• David Wallace as Timothy Westerby
• Christian Sloan as Bill Shorter
• Jill Raymond as Polly Perkins
• Tom Kavadias as Charles Babcock
"A fiendishly clever farce that gets madder and funnier as it goes along... Has pace, precision and wit."
