For millennia, the story of Orpheus has fascinated both artists and audiences.
The legend of this poet, musician, and prophet inspired the likes of Euripides, Virgil and Ovid, Monteverdi, Gluck and Stravinsky, Rainer Maria Rilke, Jean Cocteau, Tennessee Williams and Albert Camus to create some of their greatest work.
In 2014, Music on Main re-imagines the Orpheus story through a groundbreaking, immersive musical event.
Imagine roaming an entire theatre, discovering rooms filled with mysterious music and surprising interactions. Through creations by Jocelyn Morlock, Veda Hille, Cassandra Miller, James Maxwell, Barry Truax, Alfredo Santa Ana, Colin Browne, George Frideric Handel, and others, you’ll explore The Cultch’s dressing rooms and Historic Theatre, the backstage and the lobby.
Music on Main’s new site-specific event will reveal why Orpheus remains such a powerful influence in the 21st Century.
