Exquisite Canadian pianist Janina Fialkowska performs Ravel’s G Major Piano Concerto, a work heavily influenced by the Paris jazz scene in the late 1920s. Franz Schubert’s gift for melody was second only to Mozart, and his Symphony No. 5 is one of the most melodic and Mozart-like of all of his great works. Alexina Louie is one of Canada’s most distinguished composers, and her Infinite Sky with Birds provides a hypnotic and evocative opening to this beautiful concert.
