The year 2015 marks not just one, but two 150th anniversaries for major Scandinavian composers: The birth of Finland’s Jean Sibelius and Denmark’s Carl Nielsen. This concert pays tribute to both, with the evocative Nordic landscapes of Symphony No. 5 by Sibelius, and a Suite from the incidental music written by Carl Nielsen for the “dramatic fairy tale” Aladdin.
