One of the most critically-acclaimed violinists of her generation, Viviane Hagner makes her VSO debut performing Glazunov’s brilliant Violin Concerto. Bartók’s Dance Suite, one of his most popular works, was written to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the union of Buda and Pest into the city of Budapest, and Kodaly’s exquisite Dances of Galanta movingly recall the composer’s childhood in what was then his northern Hungarian home town.
