Le Tombeau de Couperin
Mesmerizing Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt performs two passionate pianistic showcases – one an Andalusian-flavoured masterpiece, the other a French classic, commissioned by an Austrian pianist who lost his right arm during World War I. Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin is another work influenced by the First World War (and originally written for solo piano), and Mexican composer Arturo Marquez’s work harkens back to Second World War times.
