Choreography: Medhi Walerski
Rising European dance star Medhi Walerski’s work is renowned for its unpredictability and its dazzling landscape of movement and ideas. Hailed as “an original voice“ by Dance Europe, Walerski makes dances that are “out of this world…a dreamlike experience. A dream you never want to wake from.“ In 2011, Ballet BC premiered his Petite Cérémonie, a highly successful collaboration that was wildly popular with audiences in Vancouver and on tour. Formerly a dancer with the Paris Opéra Ballet, Nice Opéra Ballet and the Ballet du Rhin in Mulhouse, he is currently with Netherlands Dance Theatre where he continues to create unique works full of imagery and adventure.

Wen Wei Wang’s In Motion to Owen Underhill’s Geometry of Harmony references the diversity of Wang’s life experiences through his own unique dance language: “My work is not modern, it’s not ballet, it’s not classical Chinese dance, and yet it is all of these things.“ In Motion beautifully represents the relationship between sound and movement, musicians and dancers and explores the connections between people. Professionally Wang was a dancer in China before coming to Canada in 1991 where he performed for several years with Ballet BC. He has created more than 20 works and in 2000 received the prestigious Clifford E. Lee Award for excellence in choreography. Since 2003, he has served as Artistic Director of Wen Wei Dance.
