The 21st Annual Downtown Eastside Heart of the City Festival runs from October 30 to November 10, 2024, featuring over 100 events across various artistic disciplines. Guided by the theme "Threads of Connection," the festival celebrates the cultural wealth of the Downtown Eastside community through music, poetry, theater, and workshops. Co-founders Terry Hunter and Savannah Walling are set to reflect on two decades of the festival's impact at the opening ceremony, marking a significant transition as they pass on leadership to new directors. Highlights include performances, interactive installations, and discussions aimed at fostering community engagement and resilience.
