Violinist Cristian Herki will delight and inspire in From Barock to Roque-an exciting journey through music's history extending from the baroque era to the 20th century- from the likes of Vivaldi to Guns n Roses. There is exquisite diversity, fire, passion and emotion in the work of internationally acclaimed violin virtuoso Cristian Herki of Transylvania, Romania. Performing alongside Cristiaan will be pianist Cathy Gallagher and the evening also features a performance from the En Praxis Ensemble. This truly unique experience will happen one night only at The Historic Theatre in The Cultch on June 4th, 2016.
Cristian is a world-class violinist who plays with sensitivity, agility, depth and artistry. He was born a third generation violinist in Romania. He lived his entire life surrounded by music and has a master's degree in performance from C Dima Musical Academy in Cluj, Napoca and a Masters degree in Music Management from Babes Bolyai, University of Napoca, Romania. Cristian travels and performs in major cities around the world-audiences have been thrilled with his virtuosity, depth, humour and diversity. In addition to his classical repertoire, Cristian performs music from all eras and genres, including fiddling, current music, standards, jazz and rock. Hearing Cristian play in a concert ensures cheers, tears, laughter and simple delight in the sheer beauty of his violin skills and expressiveness.

Pianist Cathy Gallagher was born into a diplomatic family in Indonesia. Growing up, Cathy studied piano as her family travelled and lived in various parts of the world. She also studied ballet in New York, raised 3 children in Chilliwack, and there, taught for years at the local school. With her maste's degree in music education from UBC, she performed as a pianist and vocalist at various venues in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, she has taught in Powell River, the Nass Valley, and for the past 7 years at Blueberry River and Prophet River First Nations schools. After a long hiatus from playing the piano, she is enjoying performing with violinist Cristian Herki from Romania. Cathy is truly a citizen of the world; her passion and energy transcends with the universal language of music.
