The Firehall Arts Centre and Alley Theatre are pleased to present a panel discussion following the 8pm performance of Little One on Thursday, February 11.
What happens to a family when children with mental and emotional issues lash out? What are the origins of violent behaviour in children? What supports are available or needed for families adopting children with psychological challenges? Do current Canadian mental health and child welfare policies actually protect children and families?
You are invited to join what is bound to be an enlivened discussion following Hannah Moscovitch's psychological drama about what happens behind one family's closed doors on a "prosperous block" in Canada.
The discussion will be moderated by The Georgia Straight's Arts Editor Janet Smith and will include the following panelists:
Natalie Clark - Chair of Field Education at UBC School of Social Work
Carol Ross - Recently retired Child Welfare Committee Chair of the BC Association of Social Workers
Laura Dosanjh - Clinical Counsellor at the Centre for Creative Counselling
Naomi Kolinsky - Clinical Counsellor at Well Woman Counselling
Lara Wease - Child and Family Therapist and adoptive parent
Tickets for Little One start at $23 and are available online at www.firehallartscentre.ca or by phone at 604.689.0926.
Admission to the post-performance panel discussion is free.
