The Firehall Arts Centre is pleased to open its 34th season with the work of one of Canada's fiercest and funniest females, Cathy Jones. A Canadian cultural icon, Jones returns to the stage with her third one-woman show, Stranger to Hard Work, from Wednesday, September 28 to Saturday, October 8, 2016.
In this new production, Gemini Award-winning actress and comedian Cathy Jones (This Hour Has 22 Minutes) gets personal as she shares her unique perspective on a variety of topics from food to money, and from the troublesome people in her life to the benefits of laughter. Written and performed by Jones and directed by Ann-Marie Kerr, Stranger to Hard Work is an hilarious mix of stand-up and character sketch comedy that blasts into the realms of creative struggles, daily neuroses and self-deprecation, as well as aging, sex and competitive Facebook posts.
On Tuesday, September 27 only, the Firehall Arts Centre is pleased to host Don't Be A Stranger: Conversations and Cocktails with Cathy. Following this 7pm preview performance of Stranger to Hard Work, join Cathy Jones and the Firehall's Artistic Producer Donna Spencer for canapés, cocktails, and conversation. All funds raised from this special preview performance go to the Firehall Arts Centre's theatre production and presentation programs.
