Firehall Arts Centre Names New General Manager

Artistic Producer, Donna Spencer is pleased to announce Laura Efron will be joining the Firehall Arts Centre as its new General Manager in April 2016.

Ms. Spencer says, "I am looking forward to working with Ms. Efron as she has not only a passion for the performing and visual arts, but a solid knowledge and experience in the administration and operations of theatre companies as well as performing arts venues. Over the past three years, the Firehall's budget has increased by over fourty percent along with attendance and an increase in our passholder and donor base. It is an exciting time for the Firehall and we are certain that Laura will be a huge asset to the organization".

Ms. Efron adds, "I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to work with Donna Spencer to continue the Firehall's important role in reflecting diversity through stimulating and engaging works of theatre, dance and visual art. I feel confident that Donna and I will work well together in leading the organization forward and I am excited to get started."

Ms. Efron brings nearly 20 years of professional arts administration and marketing experience to the Firehall Arts Centre. She broke records while managing subscription campaigns at the Arts Club Theatre Company and while overseeing donations in her role as General Manager of Rumble Theatre. She is one of the founders of indie theatre hub Progress Lab 1422 as well as an arts facility managers' network in the Lower Mainland. Most recently, while managing the Performing Arts Centre at Capilano University, she enhanced the venue with a state of the art sound system, significantly increased theatre rental revenue and won an Exceptional Service Award. She has stage managed several productions and brings a wealth of financial management, grant writing, human resources and facility management experience to her new role.
