The Arts Club Theatre Company, who are in the midst of their 48th season of live theatre in Vancouver, are getting set to launch their latest production on November 17 at the Granville Island Stage.
Willy Russell's Blood Brothers, is slated to begin previews on November 17, leading to the opening night on Wednesday, November 23. Co-directed by local actors/directors Bob Frazer (It's a Wonderful Life, Richard III) and Sara-Jeanne Hosie (White Christmas, Les Miserables, A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline), the musical stars Broadway veteran Terra C. MacLeod, Spirit of the West lead singer John Mann, Adam Charles (Hairspray) and Shane Snow (White Christmas, Dr. Horrible's Sing A Long Blog).

Blood Brothers, based loosely on the 1844 novella The Corsican Brothers by Alexandre Dumas, tells the story of Mrs. Johnstone, who gives birth to twin boys but cannot afford to keep them both, and so she gives one to her employers, the Lyons, to raise. The boys grow up as friends, not knowing that they are in fact brothers. When Mickey ends up in trouble with the law, Eddie finds out about a short-lived affair with Mickey's girlfriend Linda, and it sets off a chain of events that changes the lives of both families.
Blood Brothers will have musical direction by Sasha Niechoda, set design by Ted Roberts, costume design by Naomi Sider, and lighting design by Marsha Sibthorpe.
The musical begins performances on November 17, running until December 31 at the Granville Island Stage. Tickets start at $29, and can be purchased by phone at (604) 687-1644, or online on the Arts Club website.
