Is the lie "I'm fine, how are you?" the greatest and most dangerous piece of misinformation of all?Through lies, truth, chaos, unity and disaster, let's explore why we feel we cant just say how we really are or why we feel that nobody wants to listen when we do.A solo performance project, created through a self-devised system of content generation, Poke the Bear is an experimental performance combining dark emotional truth, comedy, clowning, visual art and spoken word.Aimed at exploring the subjects of mental health and its diagnosis, societal reactions to the words mental health, masculinity and its toxic counterpart, the male suicide crisis in Britain, and the wider issues in society associated with all of our struggles with mental health.Age guidance: 16 + due to strong language and themes including discussions and representations of drug use, suicide, self harm and other mental health issues and trauma.Content warning:Please note this performance includes strong language and themes of drug use, suicide, self harm and other mental health issues and trauma.Find out more about Aneirin GeorgeAneirin George is a theatre artist trained in acting, collaborative theatre making and clowning and inspired to create theatre for social change, aiming to connect people through comedy. Work consists of various elements including clown, stand up comedy, theatre performance, installation art, visual art and spoken word poetry.
