All My Pretty Ones at Birmingham Rep

Three young medical students travel together to the south of France. However, due to a heavy storm, they are stranded at the train station of a small, seemingly deserted town. With no accommodation available, the trio are rescued by Maurice who owns a local guesthouse, ‘Les Quatre Vents’. Soon after their arrival, strange happenings occur. The tragedy begins to unfold.
The audience is transported back to 1944 and the inhabitants of a former farmhouse are brought back to life. The three students embark on a journey to discover the tragic past of Oradour-sur-Glane, the French village whose inhabitants were murdered by the Nazis on 10 June 1944.
All My Pretty Ones is not just a play about Nazi barbarism, but one that looks at the psychology of The Evil Men Do, an evil still vividly present in today’s society. It emphasises the importance, and indeed hope that young people from different countries and cultures should become the bedrock of stability and peace, so that tragedies like Oradour-sur-Glane never happen again.
