Following on from last year's smash hit Hare and Tortoise, the acclaimed tutti frutti are set to celebrate their 21st anniversary with an enchanting new adaptation byleading children's playwright Mike Kenny of the much loved story Rapunzel.
Produced with York Theatre Royal, the production will premiere in York on the 27th September and then tour the UK until the 23 February 2013
The enchanting tale of Rapunzel tells the story of a girl who is taken away from what she knows and protected from all the things that she loves. Placed high-up in a tower above the world and faced with the challenge of growing-up, she is found alone, dreaming….
With direction by tutti frutti's artistic director Wendy Harris, fantastic music from Chris Mellor, beautiful movement from TC Howard and magical design by Catherine Chapman, Rapunzel is a delightful new production for children about the curiosity and joys of growing up, risk taking and discovering who you are.

Mike Kenny is one of the England's leading writers, specialising in young people's theatre. He is the recipient of numerous awards, was included in the Independent on Sunday's list of Top Ten Living UK Playwrights and his plays are performed regularly throughout the UK and all over the world. His recent works include the Olivier award winning The Railway Children and the The York Mystery Plays 2012. He is currently adapting the novel Lion Boy for Complicite.
