After their smash hit Olivier Award nominated musical Loserville, Busted's James Bourne and award winning writer Elliot Davis team up with critically acclaimed Youth Music Theatre UK for a third time to present electrifying new show What I Go To School For - the Busted musical!

Featuring some of Busted's biggest hits including Air Hostess, Crashed the Wedding and Year 3000 plus a host of brand new songs, What I Go To School For follows a group of teenagers living in a world that just doesn't understand them. Desperate to escape their humdrum hometown, they soon discover the need to break the rules to find out who they really are.

The cast of 40 young performers and musicians are from all over the UK and Ireland. They are all aged from 11 to 21 and have been selected from YMT's National Auditions Tour, where over 1,000 young people auditioned to join the YMT 2016 Company.

James Bourne - Music and Lyrics

Musician and songwriter James Bourne has just finished one of the highest grossing tours of 2015 with McBusted (with members of McFly) playing to over 600,000 people on an arena tour of the UK and overseas. The tour featured numbers from both Busted and Mcfly repertoire. James formed Busted in 2000, producing two hit albums (Busted and A Present for Everyone), which sold over two million records in the UK and a further four million worldwide. James has written seven number one hit songs, had numerous top three singles, and played to sold out arenas across the UK. He has won two Brit Awards and played two Royal Variety Performances. He has also written for numerous other artists including McFly, The Saturdays, Jonas Brothers and Pixie Lott. James comes from Southend-on-Sea in Essex.

Elliot Davis - Music and Book

Elliot has written the script, music and lyrics for Loserville, which after a successful run at West Yorkshire Playhouse in June 2012 opened at The Garrick Theatre, in the West End from the 1st October 2012. Elliot collaborated with Youth Music Theatre UK and James Bourne on Loserville with whom he has also written Out There. Recently Elliot co-wrote the book of Soho Cinders with Anthony Drewe, (music by George Stiles), which premiered in concert form in the West End in 2011 and had a successful seven week run at the Soho Theatre. He wrote the book for a new musical in Malaysia called The Secret Life Of Nora, which won best original book in the Best Original Book and Audience Choice Award for Best Musical in The BOH Cameronian Arts Awards. Elliot also has a prolific career writing for Radio and has written and produced the many documentary profiles of the world's leading musicians for the BBC. These include, Neil Diamond, Freddie Mercury's 60th Commemoration for the BBC, Barry Manilow, Lisa Minnelli, the Bee Gees, Paul Anka, Jerry Herman, James Last and Lionel Bart. He wrote of 21 original short stories for the BBC in Sugar Plum Storytime which won the New York Festival International Radio Award. As an musical arranger Elliot has worked with Stephen Schwartz on re-orchestrating Pippin, commercial tracks for Betty Blue Eyes and also with George Stiles on a new musical 'Soapdish', The Pro's The Con's and A Screw (Derby Playhouse), Fings Ain't Wot They Used To Be (Union Theatre 2011) and many other productions!

Youth Music Theatre UK (YMT)

YMT is the leading music theatre company for young people aged 11-21. YMT is a national performing arts company that specialises in creating brand new music theatre. We work across the UK and Ireland with leading industry professionals to offer unique opportunities and high-quality training to young singers, actors, dancers and musicians as well as emerging artists and stage technicians. Each summer, YMT creates at least eight brand new musicals across the UK with over 300 young people drawn from a national auditions tour who form the YMT Company.

As an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, YMT is a youth theatre like no other putting young people at the centre of the creative process to produce vibrant, innovative and original works in some of the UK's top venues and festivals. YMT bridges the gap between local/regional drama groups and formal training at drama school/conservatoire. Since 2003 we have trained over 8,000 young people, many of whom have successfully entered the creative industries such as Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Lauren Samuels, Charlotte Ritchie, Jack Bence, Lucy Griffiths and many more. We've also created over 60 brand new musicals, including Loserville the Musical, which went on to be produced professionally at the West Yorkshire Playhouse and in the West End and was nominated for 'Best New Musical' at the Olivier, Whatsonstage and BroadwayWorldUK awards.
