The Wyvern Theatre will be transforming its 2012-2013 pantomime from the previously announced Jack and the Beanstalk to the family adventure Aladdin.
The change in title comes after talks between the Theatre, producer One From The Heart and Qdos Entertainment, who provide the sets and costumes for the Wyvern’s spectacular Christmas show.
“I’m thrilled to bring a brand-spanking-new production of Aladdin to the Wyvern following the phenomenal success of Cinderella last Christmas,” said Producer Daryl Back. “Aladdin is one of my favourite pantomimes of all time!”
“I would like to thank the amazing Wyvern audiences for their loyalty and support for Swindon’s pantomime and look forward to presenting our brand new production of Aladdin,” said Theatre Director Derek Aldridge. “It is such a privilege for the Wyvern to be part of so many families’ Christmas celebrations and this year will be better than ever.”
Talking about the change in title Derek explains “Our decision to change title has been a difficult one, but having talked with our production partners we know that our production of Aladdin is going to be a real treat for audiences. The show is packed with special effects which will look stunning in our intimate auditorium - including a magical flying carpet!”
This pantomime adventure sees the return of Keith Chegwin, after his highly-praised performances in last year’s Cinderella, and "will boast a brand-new script, singing, dancing, the genie of the lamp, stunning sets, beautiful costumes and an abundance of comedy."
The Wyvern works with Qdos Pantomimes and One From The Heart to produce a family pantomime throughout the Christmas period. Focussed on family entertainment and traditional values, Qdos Entertainment holds the accolade of being the largest producers of pantomimes in the world, the 2012 season will see a host of stars appear in the company's 24 productions.
