Ground-breaking new musical theatre event SIGNAL is taking over The Hospital Club's Oak Room for the fourth time. This free concert showcases some of the best and boldest new British musical theatre and since its first incarnation last December has presented over fifty world premieres of new musical theatre songs. Helped by a selection of West End performers and accompanied by a live house band, SIGNAL looks to showcase the breadth and talent of those currently developing new British musical theatre.
Previous writers who have presented at SIGNAL include Sheila Atim, Bella Barlow, Rachel Bellman, Rebecca Brewer, Josh Bird, Matt Board, Daisy Chute, Tim Connor, Chris Czornyj, Joseph Finlay, Vin Goodwin, Ella Grace, Toby Marlow, Sarah Middleton, Dominic Powell, A. C. Smith, Josh Sneesby, Sumerah and Ajay Srivastav and Dylan Wynford.
Previous events have included performances by actors Sheila Atim, Siobhan Athwal, Natasha Barnes, Carley Bawden, Carley Bawden, Tyrone Huntley and Rebecca Trehearn.
Curated and hosted by leading London musical theatre director Adam Lenson (The Rink, Wasted, Superhero) and featuring a fusion of musical styles, including rock, folk, electronica and R&B, this is an evening for those who love musicals and more importantly, those who think they don't.
Adam Lenson says: "It has been so exciting to start a bonfire for new musical theatre. A place where the most courageous, innovative and talented writers can truly engage with the form and can tell the stories they want to tell. It's been inspiring to watch our bonfire grow over the last year and I can't wait to see these writers and their shows go from strength to strength."
All performances from SIGNAL are available to view on YouTube.
