World Premiere Of SPIRAL Comes To Park Theatre ImageVeritas Theatre Company in association with Park Theatre are proud to present the World Premiere of Spiral by Abigail Hood, which is set to be performed at Park Theatre from 7th August - 1st September 2018. Spiral is a thrilling contemporary play which explores lives in crisis and the need within the human spirit to cling to another person, no matter what the cost.

Spiral is co-directed by Kevin Tomlinson and Glen Walford and stars Abigail Hood, Adam Morris, Kevin Tomlinson and Tracey Wilkinson. The official press night will be on Wednesday 8th August at 7pm.

London. 2018. A bedsit. A young woman in trouble. A bridge. A missing teenager - and parents searching for answers.

Struggling to cope with the disappearance of his teenage daughter, secondary school teacher Tom decides to book an escort (Leah) in an attempt to numb his pain. Little does he realise the impact this will have on both their lives and the lives of those closest to them...

Spiral examines the ramifications on the people left behind when a family member disappears, intentionally or otherwise. It questions whether we really know the people we are closest to, what happens when trust breaks down and whether our past shapes our future. At its heart, the play interrogates whether other people can save us, or whether we must save ourselves.

Abigail Hood, who wrote the play says:

"'Dear Steven, we love you, we miss you. We hope you found what you were looking for.' About five years ago I saw this printed in the bottom corner of a free London newspaper and it caught the breath in my throat. I couldn't stop thinking about the people that had sent in that entry. My mind was reeling. If the person I loved most in the world walked out of my life, or disappeared from it, how would I feel? How would I go on? It was these questions that prompted me to write a play exploring how people cope in the worst imaginable situation, the strategies they may use and how they would manage to go on living? Well, that was where it began and is where the play begins...two characters; a middle-aged man and a young woman, both of whom have suffered a significant person disappearing from their lives...but, as with all things, once I started to write I found that one question led to another and another and the play is now about many things and my imaginings pushed to their most extreme."

The role of Leah, a young escort in an abusive relationship is played by the play's writer, Abigail Hood. Since graduating from the Oxford School of Drama, Abigail's theatre credits have included: That Face (Royal Court), The Snow Queen (Scarborough Stephen Joseph), The Bomb (Lancaster Dukes), True Love Waits (Latitude Festival), The Lesson Before Break (Theatre 503), Weapons of Happiness (Finborough Theatre), Romeo and Juliet (Salisbury Playhouse), Whispering Happiness (Box of Tricks), All The Little Lights (Derby Theatre), Bleeding Hearts (Bolton Octagon), c*ck(Oxford Playhouse) and Dangling (Southwark Playhouse). Her TV/Film credits include: The Bill (ITV), The Things I See (BBC) and The Lesson (Urban Fox).
