Wolverhampton Grand Theatre staff and supporters are gearing up for a 24 Hour Bikeathon on from 2pm on 14 and 15 December.
The bikeathon is taking part at the theatre in partnership with Rotary Club of Wolverhampton St Georges.
The event will raise funds for The Phoenix Project, a 3-year project helping survivors of domestic abuse in Wolverhampton move on with their lives through drama workshops and creative projects.
Volunteers will be cycling for a minimum of 30-minutes in relays during the 24 hours, which will see them cycling through two performances of SLEEPING BEAUTY, this year's five-star family pantomime starring Debbie McGee, Richard Cadell & Sooty, Doreen Tipton and Ian Adams.
Riders include Grand Theatre staff, members of Rotary Club of Wolverhampton St Georges and Grand Theatre Business Club members, Forces Recruitment and Lawrence Cleaning.
The static exercise bikes have been loaned by WV Active, whose instructor will also be taking part on the day.
The Phoenix Project ran as a pilot project in March 2018 and has been created and developed by Libbie Doyle, the Grand Theatre's Creative Learning Assistant.
Libbie Doyle said: "The Phoenix Project has the fantastic potential of changing lives. The participants have lived through traumatic experiences, but they are now ready to move on. The 3-year project will help them to rebuild their confidence, learn new skills and also train local creatives to work with people who have multiple and complex needs. However, nothing comes for free so we're on a fundraising mission to raise the money needed. The Bikeathon is a fun way to do this and get everyone involved. All support is appreciated."
Colin Hole, President of Rotary Club of Wolverhampton St Georges, said: "The community is at the heart of Rotary activity and the Grand Theatre is at the heart of the community, so we are proud to work in partnership to raise money for The Phoenix Project."
The Phoenix Project is a partnership with Geese Theatre Company and The Haven Wolverhampton.
