Winner Announced For Sheridan Morley Prize for Theatre Biography

This years winner of the Sheridan Morley Prize for Theatre Biography is: My Life in Pieces by Simon Callow.

The judges felt Simon Callow combined zest, originality and passion and has elegantly turned his views and his life in the theatre into an astonishing memoir.

The prize of £2000 was awarded yesterday at the Garrick Club. The Sheridan Morley Prize is awarded annually for the best biography, autobiography or diary of a theatrical or show?business subject published in the English language. The members of this year's Jury were stage director Sir Richard Eyre, actress Siân Phillips CBE, and editor of the Evening Standard, Geordie Greig and it was chaired by critic, broadcaster and biographer Ruth Leon.

The other shortlisted books, selected from a wide variety of entries published in the calendar year 2010, were, The Reluctant Escapologist by Mike Bradwell (Nick Hern Books), Finishing the Hat by Stephen Sondheim (Ebury Publishing), Putting it On by Michael Codron and Alan Strachan (Duckworth Publishers) and Born Brilliant - The Life of Kenneth Williams by Christopher Stevens (John Murray).

The Prize is administered by Oberon Books by on behalf of the Trustees
