Based on the 2010 film of the same name, the London stage production opened at the Adelphi Theatre in the West End in October 2014 starring Gemma Arterton with a sea of four and five star reviews. Now for the first time, Midlands' audiences will get to see the musical that brings to life the story of the women of Ford Dagenham who stand up to challenge equal pay for their newly classified "unskilled" stitching-room job roles.
Rachel Davies from Stourbridge will play Rita O'Grady - who leads the factory walk-out and John Whetherall from Walsall will play her husband Eddie. Other factory girls are Lorraine Foggin who plays Beryl, Sally Pugh is Claire, Tasheka Coe is Cass and Claire Flavell is Sandra. Sarah Moors will play Labour politician Barbara Castle and Tim Jones is Prime Minister Harold Wilson. A cast of talented local performers will play supporting roles.
MADE IN DAGENHAM is directed by Simon Pugh. Musical Direction is by Tim Harding and choreography by Steven Harris who recently choreographed the 2015/16 Grand Theatre pantomime, Peter Pan starring the Chuckle Brothers.
West Bromwich Operatic Society (WBOS) has been running since 1938 and have performed at the Grand Theatre for over 20 years, with 80 current members.
Funny, touching and timeless, MADE IN DAGENHAM shows how ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they stand together.
