This summer, Sir Trevor Nunn returns to his home town of Ipswich to direct William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream at the New Wolsey Theatre running from Thursday 16 June to Saturday 9 July 2016.

Tickets go on general sale on Friday 26 February at 10am

During the two week sales period to Friends of the theatre, the New Wolsey has seen memberships rise by 30% - meaning more funds can start going towards the theatre's work in the community through their Creative Learning department, and can be invested in future productions the New Wolsey Theatre creates themselves. As a not-for-profit organisation, and a charity, the theatre values every penny received through Friends memberships starting from £25.

The New Wolsey Theatre is delighted to confirm that East Anglian solicitors Ashton KCJ are now production sponsors for A Midsummer Night's Dream. Partner Paul Whittingham has said: "We are delighted to be sponsoring what promises to be a fantastic production. Trevor Nunn's decision to return to his roots to direct his final Shakespeare play makes it a very special run, and one which we are very enthusiastic to support."

Patron of the New Wolsey Theatre, and former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, he has thus far directed 36 of Shakespeare's 37 plays, with this production completing the collection.

As well as marking the theatre's 15th birthday year, and concluding Sir Trevor's repertoire of directing Shakespeare, 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, and joins many theatres across the region and UK who will be marking the celebration with ground-breaking productions and festivals.

The production will be featuring a cast of young local performers aged 8 to 13 years of age to play the fairy children, and open auditions will take place on Saturday 12 March at the New Wolsey Theatre. More information on how to register can be found by visiting www.wolseytheatre.co.uk/auditions

This strictly limited run begins previews on Thursday 16 June, opening Tuesday 21 June and concluding Saturday 9 July.

Tickets can be booked by calling 01473 295900 or on the New Wolsey Theatre website www.wolseytheatre.co.uk.
