Traverse Theatre Company will commission ten of Scotland's most exciting writers, plus two writers to be discovered over the course of the Fringe, as the breakfast theatre returns to the Traverse Festival.

Playwrights including Sue Glover, David Ireland, Douglas Maxwell, Nicola McCartney, Johnny McKnight, Lynda Radley, Gerda Stevenson, Alan Wilkins and poet and novelists Janice Galloway and Andrew Greig, open up their imaginations in a series of specially commissioned short new works.

In an exciting twist to the programme, Orla O'Loughlin and David Greig will search for new playwriting talent over the course of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and commission two writers to each create a brand new short play.

Each play in the season will be performed once during the twelve day run of Dream Plays, and will be announced the day prior to performance. Plays will be announced through the Traverse's website and social media channels.

Curated and directed by Traverse Artistic Director Orla O'Loughlin and Traverse Associate Artist David Greig, Dream Plays (Scenes from a Play I'll Never Write) will be presented script in hand, first thing in the morning.

The Traverse last presented Festival breakfast theatre in 2009 with the Scotsman Fringe First award winning, The World is Too Much and in 2010 with Impossible Things Before Breakfast, which saw five brand new plays broadcast live to cinemas around the UK. The plays are available to stream on www.hibrow.tv.
