In the past year alone, with the company she founded, Interval Productions (now run with Co- Producer Sarah Page), Tori Allen Martin has produced three musicals. She appeared in two of them, and wrote two of them and with her team is now awaiting the results of seven nominations collectively (Off West End and Broadway World Nominations). Excitingly, 'Streets' (which transferred to Hackney Empire in June and returns to a stage near you next year) and Interval's most recent piece, 'Another Way', featuring the songs of up and coming singer/songwriter Benedict, are going head to head in the 'OFFIES' as two of only three competitors in the BEST NEW MUSICAL cateogory so far. Both pieces feature a book written by Tori and her co- writer, playwright Sarah Henley (and both were produced by Tori and Sarah Page, under the Interval Productions banner). Tori has also found herself up for her own nomination, alongside Henley, for MOST PROMISING PLAYWRIGHT/S for 'Streets'.
Not content with writing and producing alone, Tori has recently returned from South Africa and Mali where she was working on an exciting musical project with Hackney born actor Idris Elba. Prior to this action packed year, Tori has had a varied career, performing as a backing vocalist to West End leading lady Julie Atherton, and to Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter. She has also performed backing vocals for Emmy Award winning composer Lance Horne in London's West End and at the Lincoln Centre, NYC. She has toured Europe in Gary Lloyd's production of HA!R, as tribe and Cover Dionne, visiting venues such as the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam where the cast played packed out shows to audiences of 10,000 a night. As an actress, Tori has originated roles, 'Loveinia' in Ray Shell's critically acclaimed, National Lottery funded Street Dance musical 'Zip', which tackled postcode wars and gun and knife crime, and 'Lauren' in 'After The Turn', which featured songs by Tim ProtteyJones and a book by Sarah Henley, also produced by Interval Productions, and which was also nominated for a Broadway World Nomination for Best Fringe Musical in 2012. The latest chapter in Tori's Story is creating an album of her own work, and she has found herself hard at work in the studio with Elba, finding her own sound. As she enters this exciting phase in her life she invites you to hang out with her and her friends in the basement of a bar in Soho, where she feels things really began for her..... join Tori as she fills you in on the story so far, introduces you to some of those who have influenced her the most, and performs some of her own original music for the first time ever.
