Tony Christie To Perform Classic Song 'Didn't We' Live For The First Time Ever ImageWith performances of Amanda Whittington's hit play LADIES' DAY opening tonight at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, comes the announcement that Tony Christie will be performing one of his well-loved songs Didn't We live for the first time ever.

Tony Christie's songs have been used in productions of LADIES' DAY since it premiered in 2005 but Wolverhampton Grand Theatre's production is the first time that Tony himself will take to the stage and appear in person, singing live during the play.

With (Is This The Way To) Amarillo, I Did What I Did For Maria, Now's The Time! and Las Vegas among the list of songs audiences will hear, the beautiful Didn't We will be performed live by Tony for the first time ever. The song, which featured on the 1971 album, Tony Christie, is performed during one of the more tender and poignant scenes in the play in an arrangement adapted by Grand Theatre Chief Executive and Artistic Director Adrian Jackson.

Adrian said, "I'm thrilled that not only is Tony Christie in our production of Ladies' Day but that audiences will see an exclusive performance which has never previously been given at his concerts and live performances. Tony hasn't performed Didn't We since he recorded it for the 1971 album and the lyrics compliment the storyline and are perfect for the moment in which we use it. All of Tony's music featured in the play is used to help tell the story in the way songs are used in musicals. Tony's inclusion in the play is something very special for Wolverhampton audiences and will be very much a one off experience."

Tony Christie said, "I am very excited to revisit some of my older, original music tracks and having the opportunity to perform Didn't We in particular is incredible. I'm very much looking forward to performing it in Ladies' Day."

Tony Christie was recently spotted arriving in Wolverhampton in true 'Amarillo' style visiting local landmarks and businesses before ending up at the theatre to meet the cast of the play which includes Cheryl Fergison, Deena Payne, Emma Rigby, Roisin O'Neill and Sean McKenzie. The video can be seen on the Grand Theatre's YouTube channel.

LADIES' DAY is produced in association with Wolverhampton Racecourse and with media partner Free Radio.

LADIES' DAY is now playing and runs until Saturday 28 July. Tickets are on sale at the Grand Theatre Box Office in person, by calling 01902 42 92 12 or online at grandtheatre.co.uk.
