Tobacco Factory Theatres Announce New Season Image

Mike Tweddle, Artistic Director of Tobacco Factory Theatres, has launched the theatre's new season which takes it into 2018 and a transformational year. A brand new resident professional ensemble, the Factory Company, will perform Macbeth and A View From the Bridge between February and May and the reimagining of Tobacco Factory Theatres gets underway with the beginning of the theatre's much anticipated 2018 building project.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS SEASON
Christmas is always a special time at Tobacco Factory Theatres and two of this year's Christmas productions were introduced at the launch event by Alex Byrne, Director of Beauty and the Beast and Heidi Vaughan, Artistic Producer of Travelling Light, co-producers of The Ugly Duckling. Living Spit's Nativity at the Theatre Shop in Clevedon completes the trio of shows to treat everyone aged 2 to 102 this Christmas.

As the Christmas shows come down in January, Tobacco Factory Theatres will close for six weeks to allow the first phase of its exciting redevelopment work to begin. The 2018 building project will transform the current footprint of the first floor, creating a brand new Studio Theatre, refurbished dressing rooms and extended front of house areas (Find out more at tobaccofactorytheatres.com/reimagine-with-us/).

The theatre will open again in mid-February for the start of the first ever Factory Company season, when a new resident professional ensemble will work together over four months to present Shakespeare's Macbeth, directed by Adele Thomas and Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge, directed by Mike Tweddle. At the launch, Mike spoke about directing his first production for Tobacco Factory Theatres and the connections the Factory Company season will develop with the local community, artists and audiences through inspirational events, talks and masterclasses.

The spring season also sees a widening of opportunities for artists and theatre makers to connect with and develop ideas at Tobacco Factory Theatres and, through the Get Involved programme, for audiences to explore the world of productions and get an inside view of the creative process. Three members of Tobacco Factory Theatres's current Young Producers team introduced some of the interactive events they will be organising in the spring for all audiences, but particularly for young adults, to enjoy.

The Dec 17 - May 18 season is now on general sale. For more information, view the brochure online or download it.
