The Yard Theatre has announced the first show made by The Queen's Yard Company, The Yard's first-ever in-house company of 15-19 year old young performers.
Acclaimed director Caroline Williams (I Am, National Theatre; Now Is The Time To Say Nothing, Young Vic) and award-winning contemporary dancer Jonathan Goddard have been working together with the company to collectively create a show about the police and being policed as a young Londoner.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING uses the experiences of the company and the choreography of a world-class contemporary dancer to explore what it feels like to be policed in London in 2018.
The Queen's Yard Company is The Yard's first ever in-house company. It is a group of daring and determined 15-19 year olds who meet weekly at Hub67 - a community centre in Hackney Wick run by The Yard Theatre - and work with world-class artists to make radical new work.
Chelsea Rivera, Queen's Yard Company Member: "You do not have to say anything isn't just a show: it's purpose is to create an accurate representation of police fear and brutality among the youth, particularly those from a non-English background. It is a platform for the new unheard voice of the young generation."
