The Watermill has announced the full company for its upcoming production of Macbeth, which runs from 2 - 7 November, before undertaking a tour of local schools.

The Watermill's new adaptation is a fast-paced introduction to Shakespeare, performed by just three actors in a blood-spattered 75 minutes, adapted by Beth Flintoff and directed by award-winning director, Cressida Brown.

The cast features James Mack as Macbeth, Bronte Tadman as Lady Macbeth and Joseph Phelps as Banquo/Duncan.

In a country ravaged by war, three witches wait for the young soldier Macbeth on a desolate heath. They tell him he will be King. When Macbeth is unexpectedly promoted, and with the Witches' prophecy ringing in his ears, his bloody ambition takes hold. How far will he and his resolute wife go to win more power?

In a mythical world of dictatorship, uprisings, famine and war, Shakespeare examines what it truly means to be a tyrant.

Macbeth is directed by Cressida Brown, winner of this year's Kevin Spacey Foundation's Artist of Choice Award and whose extensive director credits include Home by Gbolahan Obisesan; Home's sequel RE:Home, by Bruntwood Prize winner Anna Jordan (Yard Theatre); Amphibians (staged in the hidden pool under the Bridewell Theatre stage); Phaedra, (Craigmillar castle ruins, Edinburgh); Walking The Tightrope short plays by writers including Caryl Churchill, Neil Labute, Mark Ravenhill, and Timberlake Wertenbaker about Freedom of Expression (Underbelly) and Caught by Christopher Chen (Arcola). As Assistant Director, Hamlet, Midsummer Night's Dream, and Loves Labours Lost (RSC). Cressida is the Artistic Director of Offstage Theatre and Associate Artist of the Yard Theatre.

Macbeth on tour is generously supported by The Dr. Mortimer and Theresa Sackler Foundation.
