Prepare to boldly go where no Shakespeare has ever been before as Oddsocks Productions go blasting into space this summer. Following the success of last year's "bonkers and brilliant" Mods and Rockers-themed Romeo and Juliet, the renowned Shakespeare innovators bring their hilariously irreverent style to bear on a brand new production of The Tempest, beaming aboard the Belgrade Theatre 19-21 June.

Retelling Shakespeare's classic story of exile, revenge and reconciliation for a new generation, Oddsocks transplant the action from a desert island to a distant galaxy. Audiences are invited to join an epic journey aboard a spaceship manned by ageing astronaut Prospero and his fearless daughter Miranda. Expect close encounters with a host of madcap aliens, as well as an out-of-this-world soundtrack packed with popular songs in this family friendly and accessible space-age romp.

Well-known for its bold, funny and interactive reimaginings of Shakespeare's plays, Oddsocks Productions has established a reputation as one of the UK's best-loved touring theatre companies. For over 29 years, this critically acclaimed family enterprise has staged productions in a range of theatres and non-traditional venues, reaching diverse communities across the UK and even further afield.

Oddsocks' Artistic Director Andy Barrow said: "Oddsocks is a theatrical experience for everyone. As actors, we're putting on a party and everyone is invited. It's theatre that's highly energetic, full of life and plenty of laughs. It's Shakespeare, but not as you know it!"

The Tempest is directed by Andy Barrow and produced by Elli Mackenzie with costumes by Vanessa Anderson and Sigrid Mularczyk. Casting includes Andy Barrow as Prospero and Scottie, Dom Gee Burch as Sebastian and Caliban, Alice Merivale as Miranda and Ariel 2, Amy Roberts as Alonsa, Stephanie and Ariel 3, Gavin Harrison as Antonio and Trinculo, and Matt Penson as Ferdinand, the Captain and Ariel 1.

The Tempest runs at the Belgrade Theatre Coventry from Tuesday 19 until Thursday 21 June. Tickets are available to book now by calling the box office on 024 7655 3055, or visiting www.belgrade.co.uk where prices are even cheaper.
