The Storytelling Army Spins Tales at the Pavilion Cafe Bar This May

Programmed in partnership with Brighton Festival, Worthing Theatres are proud to present The Storytelling Army; a series of tantalising interactive tales that take place at the Pavilion Café Bar, Worthing at 4pm on Sunday 19 May.

Created in 2017 by nabokov to fulfil Kate Tempest's vision of a more inclusive Brighton Festival, The Storytelling Army returns with more tales to tell. For 2019, the theme is food and flavours that people have experienced; stories of where they come from; places they have been; or the places they dream to taste. Join people from all walks of life in an intimate setting - outdoors in a Brighton park or indoors at Worthing overlooking the beach - to enjoy a simple meal together and hear their stories.

nabokov will run a of series of community workshops with Cascade Creative Recovery and AudioActive (along with local musicians, poets, storytellers and the Kitchen Academy) to encourage participants to create and tell their own stories. Whether sung with live music or simply spoken, you will hear recollections of plight, grief, happiness, joy and perseverance.

Tickets for The Storytelling Army at the Pavilion Café Bar are priced at £4, with all proceeds going to AudioActive and Cascade Creative Recovery.

AudioActive is a ground-breaking music organisation, working with young people at the meeting point of technology and contemporary urban culture. They use music as a tool for social change, education and personal development.

Cascade Creative Recovery is a community based, grassroots charity that helps people who have had a problematic relationship with drugs and/or alcohol to maintain their recovery. They run a community coffee shop that provides a safe space.
