The Point, Eastleigh Announces Autumn Programme and Film Festival Image

The Point has announced its busy autumn season, featuring circus, family theatre, comedy and the return of the venue's annual film festival.

The season launches with Eastleigh Film Festival; a celebration of cult, classic and iconic cinema running Monday 24th to Saturday 29th September. 14 films will be screened at 11 venues across six days, with cult horror The Lost Boys closing the event. This year's festival celebrates Strong Women in Film with a programme dedicated to some of the industry's finest actresses.

In November the venue's programme features three must-see theatre shows with Frozen Light's Isle Of Brimsker on the 12th, a multi-sensory story of adventure for audiences with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties; the heart-lifting A Hundred Different Words for Love by James Rowland on the 16th; and the award-winning Showtopper! The Improvised Musical closes the month on the 27th.

The Point's autumn season has plenty for families including the return of Storytime; a musical storytelling series for young people aged 3-7 years old and their families. The venue's family theatre programme features This Egg's Me & My Bee on 6th October, The Tiger Who Came to Tea on the 13th and 14th and Let's All Dance's Alice in Wonderland on the 25th.

A regional powerhouse for contemporary performance, The Point, in partnership with Shobana Jeyasingh Dance, presents Contagion - a 14-18 NOW co-commission - at The Great Hall, Winchester on 22nd and 23rd September. Arts-in-health charity Rosetta Life presents Stroke Odysseys on 4th October, before Lila Dance presents new show The Hotel Experience on the 11th.

On 19th and 20th October Barely Methodical Troupe presents Shift; a must-see circus show and extraordinary display of physicality. Featuring acrobatics, Cyr Wheel and break dancing, this acclaimed production will astonish all ages. On 15th November The Point's @HOME and Associate Artists present a variety show encompassing aerial, dance, acrobatics and film from artists including Grania Pickard and Joli Vyann.

This autumn comedian Hal Cruttenden presents sold-out show Chubster on 20th September before star of Live at The Apollo Andrew Lawrence presents Clean on 16th November. The venue's live music programme, in partnership with Soco Music Project, features local musicians The Dead Freights on 16th October and a special Sofar Sounds session on 20th November.

The venue's festive period launches with its second Christmas Beer Fest on 8th December, before a series of family theatre from the critically-acclaimed Protein Dance's The Little Prince on 1st December; followed by The Point Youth Theatre's The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, 6th to 9th; before Tutti Frutti headline the festive month with The Snow Queen by Mike Kenny, running 11th to 30th December. All of The Point's Christmas shows are family friendly and will delight both the young and young at heart alike.

The season also includes Live Screen from the RSC and Matthew Bourne, the return of free behind-the-scenes series Open Space featuring sharing's from some of the country's most exciting artists, and a free art exhibition by Eve Dawson.
