The National Theatre's MACBETH Comes to The Marlowe, Canterbury Image

THE National Theatre's stunning production of Macbeth is coming to The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, this month.

Ruthlessly fighting to survive the ruined aftermath of a bloody civil war, the Macbeths are thrust towards the crown by forces of elemental darkness.

This epic and visually daring production of Shakespeare's most intense tragedy embarks on a tour of the UK and Ireland following a sold-out run at the National Theatre's Olivier Theatre. Directed by NT Artistic Director Rufus Norris (Cabaret, London Road) and designed by Rae Smith (War Horse, This House), this new version propels Shakespeare's classic title into a post-apocalyptic world of anarchy and uncertainty.

Michael Nardone (The Night Manager, King Lear) will play the lead role of Macbeth, with Kirsty Besterman (Genesis Inc, They Drink It In The Congo) as Lady Macbeth.

Previous National Theatre productions at The Marlowe include War Horse, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time and One Man, Two Guvnors.

Macbeth is at The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury from Tuesday 12 until Saturday 16 February. Tickets are available from marlowetheatre.com, or by calling the Box Office on 01227 787787. Please note, the show contains scenes of a violent nature and is recommended for those aged 13 and over.

There will be audio-described and sign-interpreted performances - see the website for details.
