MAY IS going to be a month of music and laughter at The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.

The music kicks off with everyone's favourite 80s crooner Paul Young (Monday 6 May), who is touring again to mark 35 years since the release of his seminal album No Parlez. The album produced Paul's first UK number 1 single - The Marvin Gaye cover of Wherever I Lay My Hat and hits Come Back & Stay and Love Of The Common People.

Next up is The Solid Gold Rock'n'Roll Show (Tuesday 7 May), with a special tour to celebrate Marty Wilde's 80th birthday. Performing alongside Marty will be Eden Kane, Mike Berry, and The Wildcats, as well as very special guest Little Miss Sixties, Nancy Ann Lee. Performing their own hits and collaborating live on stage, Marty, Eden and Mike, teen idols of their day, show us how rock'n'roll with its fusion of sound and rhythm shaped the style of music that we listened to then and still do today.

If your taste is more classical, the Philharmonia Orchestra, The Marlowe's orchestra in residence, will be playing Beethoven, Sibelius and Tchaikovsky in a concert entitled Rebels And Romantics (Thursday 9 May), and conducted by the electrifying Estonian conductor Paavo Järvi. There are also still a few tickets remaining for The Kingdom Choir (Monday 27 May): they were sensational group who performed at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex last year.

If all of that doesn't put a smile on your face, this month's comedy certainly should. There'll be another of the ever-popular stand-up night, Live At The Marlowe (Wednesday 8 May), headlined by Tom Allen. Tom's unique style of sharp, acerbic wit and camp, riotous storytelling has seen him sell out shows all over the country, including the London Palladium. He'll be joined by Ed Gamble, Tez Ilyas, Angela Barnes and Sarah Keyworth.

There are also a few tickets remaining for Jimmy Carr's new show Terribly Funny (Tuesday 28 May).

All of these shows are on sale now. Tickets can be booked at marlowetheatre.com or by calling the Box Office on 01227 787787.
