THE MARLOWE Studio has a great selection of shows for children this May half term - and plenty for the grown-ups as well.
For half term, popular company Let's All Dance will be back. They specialise in presenting specially commissioned or adapted ballets for children aged 2 and over. This time, they'll be performing The Ugly Duckling (Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 May), a brand new ballet which is sure to delight the whole family.
That will be followed by Nick Sharratt's Right Royal Drawalong (Wednesday 29 May). Nick has illustrated close to 260 books. He's worked with authors including Julia Donaldson, Michael Rosen and Kes Gray, and his books include You Choose, Shark In The Park and Pants. He's also the illustrator of Dame Jacqueline Wilson's phenomenally popular children's novels, including the Tracy Beaker books. Recommended for children aged four and over, bring pencils, paper and something to lean on and expect plenty of chances to join in.
In The Marlowe Kit on Stour Street, there'll be The Walrus And The Carpenter (Friday 31 May), a musical show based on Lewis Carroll's poem. Expect hilarity, eye-watering recitation, song and slapstick from puppets and players in a salty combination of theatre and haute cuisine for children aged 5 and over.
For adults, the month kicks off with Electrolyte (Saturday 4 May) a hybrid combination of a gig experience with a theatre performance, exploring the theme of mental health in the modern world.
There's also Knot (Thursday 16 May) which combines breath-taking acrobatic and heart-wrenching dance to tell the story of a very modern affair, and Flux (Saturday 18 May), which takes an electrifying look at how it feels to be a woman in a world of men, through the experiences of 1980s physicist Kate.
There will also be music from folk-singer and harpist Rachel Newton (Wednesday 15 May), and comedy from The Adam Riches Experience (Saturday 25 May).
All of these shows are on sale now, and tickets can be booked at marlowetheatre.com, or by calling the Box Office on 01227 78787.
