Eastbound Theatre, a division of Milford Arts Council (the MAC), announces auditions for the second show of its 25th season, the first fully-staged Connecticut production of the These Shining Lives, by Melanie Marnich, directed by Rich Mancini.

Performances will be February 1st through February 17th, 2019

Auditions will be held on November 14th and 15th, 2018 at 7:30 at the Margaret Egan Center, 35 Mathew Street, Milford. Additionally, interested actors who may be unable to attend those auditions times should contact the director at orsonround@optonline.net

Roles are available for 4 women and 2 men. Actors will be asked to read sides from the script. Actors interested in reviewing the script should contact the director at orsonround@optonline.net.

These Shining Lives chronicles the strength and determination of women considered expendable in their day, exploring their true story and its continued resonance. The fates of Catherine, Frances, Charlotte and Pearl, women who painted the faces of watches with radium in the early twentieth century, are tragic. However, theirs is a story of survival in its most transcendent sense, as they refuse to allow the company that stole their health to kill their spirits - or endanger the lives of those who come after them.

Roles available:

The play centers around four young women who work for the Radium Dial Company outside Chicago during the 1920s and 30s. It calls for four actresses in the 25-to-30 range, 3 of whom will also double as reporters, officials, judges, etc. It also requires two male actors - one in the 25-to-30 range, to play Catherine's husband and several other characters; and one who can be older, to portray the women's boss, radio announcer, doctors, judges, etc.

Feel free to email the director at orsonround@optonline.net with any questions regarding the roles, rehearsal schedule, etc.
