Dreaming Under a Different Moon, written and directed by Janine Waters with music & lyrics by Simon Waters, launches The Edge – an exciting new 70-seat theatre space and arts centre in Chorlton, Manchester.
The show's description reads "Take one Edwardian teenager, fill her head with thoughts of travel and adventure, drop her onto a ship with a bunch of outlawed actors from another world, scoop in dollops of comedy, love and danger, shake well... and take cover!"
Dreaming Under a Different Moon features Jenny Platt, Craig Whittaker, Everal Walsh, Jos Vantyler, and Paislie Reid with designs by Kevin Freeman and lighting by Gareth Starkey.
Dreaming Under a Different Moon runs from Monday 26 November – Saturday 22 December. Tickets are £10.00 (£7.00 concs) or £8.00 (£6.00 concs) as part of an early bird offer that ends 1 November. The Edge's first in-house production, Dreaming Under a Different Moon caps a remarkable year for the company that saw their totally sung- through production Spinach get Arts Council funding to transfer from Manchester's Royal Exchange to the King's Head Theatre, London, where it earned 4 and 5 star rave reviews, and further funding was confirmed from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation.
The Edge, based in a converted Victorian Sunday school building, houses three rehearsal/workshop studios, three smaller writers/music rooms and a 70-seat theatre. A planned cafe? development with indoor and outdoor seating areas will be open fully in early 2013.
