Continuing its commitment to bring the leading international playwrights to London stages, The c*ckTavern Theatre is presenting the UK debut of one of the leading Catalan playwrights Pau Miró.
Barcelona. Raval quarter. Summertime. Pouring rain.
A prostitute who enjoys reading Dante and cries in front of paintings. A pimp who eats take away food all day long. A client who pays just 'to look' and waits for his wife's death. It's Raining in Barcelona is a tale of a dark and bizarre triangle formed by these three characters between the hidden city, consumerism and the world of high culture.
Pau Miró is a multi-award winning Catalan playwright. It's Raining in Barcelona premiered in Catalan at the Sitges Teatre International Festival in 2004. Since then it has been staged in Italy to great acclaim at the Piccolo Teatro winning the Italian National Critics' Prize (2008). His plays have been staged at renowned theatre in Barcelona, such as the Teatre Lliure, Sala Beckett, and Catalan National Theatre.
