The beautiful Beatrice-Joanna has fallen in love with Alsemero - there is just one problem - she is already engaged to Alonzo. Blinded by desire, she desperately seeks a way out of the engagement and finds it in the unlikely shape of her disfigured servant De Flores. Little does Beatrice-Joanna know how far De Flores will go to help her.
First seen in 1622, Middleton and Rowley's play explores the destructive nature of sexual obsession. Transcending social divides and overturning prejudice, it is a warped and moving love story that tracks the process of desire possessing the body and mind.Designer Fotini Dimou's credits include Julius Caesar, The Crucible, The Duchess of Malfi (Royal Shakespeare Company). As Costume Designer, Gethsemane, Therese Raquin, The Seagull (National Theatre). Other credits include Sore Throats, Road, The Queen and I (Royal Court), Creditors (Donmar Warehouse, BAM) and The Girl with a Pearl Earring (Theatre Royal Haymarket).
Sound Designer and Composer James Flockton trained at Central School of Speech and Drama. His recent credits include Sound Design for Fewer Emergencies (The Print Room), Korzack (Rose Theatre, Kingston). He did Production Sound for Loyalty (Hampstead Theatre) and Mort the Musical (Greenwich Theatre).
